There are over 120 museums in the central and wider Paris area, and choosing which ones to go to can be tough! The vast array of museums to be found in the city includes the more obvious and expected art museums, such as the Louvre, the Musée d’Orsay and the Centre Pompidou. You can also find more offbeat and unusual museums with collections as diverse as contemporary pop culture displays at the Art Ludique (13eme), sex, such as the Musée de l’Étorisme(18eme), fashion museums like the Musée de l’Eventail (10eme), and one of my favourites, anthropology and palaeontology at the Muséum National d’Histoire Naturelle (16eme), amongst many others.
About 50 or so of these museums are accessible via the Paris Museum Pass, so make sure you check this out before you go to any of them because it is well worth the price and helps a lot if you are visiting Paris on a budget!
Here are reviews of some of my favourites.
